Bang On A Can
All Stars

Various programmes

The New York based ensemble, created over 30 years ago by Julia Wolfe, David Lang and Michael Gordon, which transformed the face of modern American music. Bang On A Can’s pioneering approach to performance, cross-disciplinary experiment, and their tireless search for new composers and voices in today’s music has given them an iconic status. Their regular 12-hour Marathon concerts, combining new sounds with better known names, are now legendary and have been copied in various forms the world over. Because of their participation in a large site-specific project in Rotterdam in October 2022, the band is free for a restricted number of concerts in the Netherlands! At this stage the ensemble is open to any ideas or requests from their huge repertoire, and could even find time to work with young talent or music students (as they often do) and add a mini-happening to their concert programme (such as Michael Gordon’s Big Space or Brian Eno’s Music for Airports). Their stunning collaboration with Chinese pop sensation Gong Linna, Deep-River-Mountain  is also available for it’s European premiere.
